The thrill of the walk. After a rather nasty spill I was unable to walk for a few months. You Know the routine, physical therapy, cold packs, cruthes et al. Then slowly taking the steps free of cane or crutches. One evening on a road east of Sebastopol, California I decided to walk to the country market several miles away. Neighbors stopped and tried to give me a ride back to my home. "No Thanks," I would say. "I just enjoy being able to walk." I still carry that joy today, like so many of you.

Just recieved Email with link to clip of American President putting hands around neck area of German Chancellor and squeezing and rubbing while smiling. The Chancellor with dignity and firmness freed herself of the physical affront. It was unbelievable what happened. Shame, disappointment and grief at this behavior. In the work place this would be grounds for dismissal. Being appalled is the least of emotions. Time for action.

Yeah I was walking down the mean streets of San Diego. Not Calcutta, India. Not Manila or Back Streets of Hong Kong. Just walking in wistful vista. Walking in the evening cool. The sound of Jets departing with the Jurrasic roars. In the dusk of evening I walked looking at the erie glows in the apartments and homes. Imagining people sitting in silence as a glowing window dancing with color does all the talking. They; listening to the glow. The disembodied voice of the Programing... (we program computer and then television programming programs who? not me! thank you) growing up in rural America I remember block parties, potlucks, town picnics and running about with friends, chasing the neighbor dog, climbing the tree at the haunted house (really an eccentric artist who was good) and getting a pomegranate. Mom knew what I was doing before I did it! We talked and shared. Parents chewed over the day and grandparents chuckled and would toss a dose of wisdom at all of us before drifting off for a snooze before dinner. Coffee was served after dinner and rarely did anyone get drunk. This still goes on in some places. Been there. People talking and sharing views, dreams, revelations, pain, joy and hope. That is what we are..Creatures of adventure of the familiar (from the word Family..meaning connection and give us safety and strength.) Our strength is in our family and we are big family.
I honor us humans on our humanity and mourne our inhumanity. How 'bout a potluck tonight, Human!
