 0052012

I woke to the soft feathered comforter of clouds. Jays were busy intruding on sguirrels. There was cawing and scolding bantered back and forth. It was about food.
Food gives energy and strength.
Food insures an easy end and a strong beginning.

The cold time is coming. With it our world changes. We change and yet there are those of us who fear this change.
Fearing change. What makes us fear change?
What is it that makes us feel joy with change?
One must ask these questions and in doing so, formulate the answer.

 0051712 Coyote Patrol.

He walked, not trotted, across the road in front of me. I knew he had a bad morning. He was going back to the den without food. He had that look like there was going to be trouble at his home. The babies would be hungry, his mate would need food to make milk for her young and he would have a bitter taste of hunger. He turned and looked me. Eyes deep pools of dark letting in the light of the other. He knew; I knew; and we shared the song of the moment together.
What it is to a member of life.
What a loss that so many forget their membership.

 0051312 upstart crow

That morning I woke up and had my coffee under the cedar.
Crows over head flying. They cawed as excited teenagers. Their wings pumping in the cool air.
later:
I put the coffee grounds into the compost and saw the signs. A crow print here and there, the previous grounds disturbed. I smiled to myself at the thought of those crows excited from the coffee grounds they ate out of the compost.
Crows on coffee.

I went to a coffee shop in the city. I saw more crows on coffee and laughed like the beating of wings.
Are we so different?

 0051212 experimental jelly

The science class was full. We began our experiments. Then it happened. The results of many experiments were much different.
Like that science class is life.
What we do does not always produce the results anticipated. In the movies the hero has bi-polar disease and his helped by the airport security. The hero's little girl gets her Daddy back.
In real life the bi-polar hero is shot to death by government agents. Friends mourn and a family is ruined for life. Witnesses at the scene are terrorize by the bloody carnage. They are changed for life and lose their trust in those who would protect. Now they know, they or their family too, may be murdered in an instant.
Is murder a tool?
Is it an experiment that fails to work?
Does the experiment of murder make us safe?
Does murder stop violence?
Does violence have to stop for violence to end?

They came in uninvited.
What is one to do?
Like coming into my home without invitation they told me how to behave, to act, to work. They told me what to buy and always told me I chose wrong, was weak and lacked skills they KNEW I had.
Intrusion, unsolicited, un wanted, uncalled for and without respect of personal space.
Do I tell them? Is it worth the conflict? Does retribution exist for honesty?
They leave smug and condescending. Who is without power and integrity?
Who?
